Dr. MacDonald completed a surgical internship in Vancouver, BC, followed by a three-year small animal surgery residency in Kansas in 2012, before successfully completing all qualifications to become an ACVS board certified Small Animal Surgeon.  Since that time, Dr. MacDonald has practiced small animal surgery in private practice specialty hospitals as well as university referral hospitals in the US and Canada. Her home base is in the foothills of Alberta, just outside of Calgary.

Dr. MacDonald is extensively trained in orthopedic, soft tissue and neurosurgery. She holds special interests in complex orthopedic surgery, including joint replacement surgery and minimally invasive orthopedic procedures and has focused her practice on advanced orthopedic surgery for the past several years.

When not working, Dr. MacDonald, her husband and their menagerie of dogs and cats enjoy working on their property in the foothills, and exploring Kananaskis and the Canadian Rockies… well, maybe not the cats ;).
